Dale Collier, II

When selecting school environments for children, it is important to choose a setting that caters to the complete child. It is important for there to be a focus on not only academics but also culturally and socially experiences. When our children were toddlers, we visited several pre-schools and were most impressed with St. John Baptist Pre-School which has a holistic approach. That was the best decision that we could have made, and we are certainly reaping the benefits!!!

Dale Collier, II, began St. John Preschool in 1994 at the age of 3 and continued through kindergarten. After preschool, Dale was educated in Lexington 1 and is a graduate of White Knoll Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. From Dale's first day in elementary school until his high school graduation in 2009, teachers have bragged about his super grades, manners, and respect that were requirements at St. John. Dale was recognized for the following during his high school years: 4.5 GPA, SC Palmetto Fellows scholarship, Clemson Coco-Cola Scholarship, Kappa Alpha Psi Beautillion Scholarship, AKA Scholarship, Urban League Gifted and Talented Award, State Fair Scholarship, National High School Scholars recognition, National Honor Society, Junior Scholar, Junior Marshall, Varsity Basketball Player and Beta Club. Dale received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Clemson University in May 2013. He is currently a graduate student in Architecture at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He is scheduled to receive his Masters in Architecture in 2015.

Damaris, our daughter, also began St. John at the age of 3 and remained until she started school at White Knoll Elementary. When Damaris began at White Knoll, her first grade teacher conducted a diagnostic reading assessment during the first week. She contacted us right away and was shocked that Damaris was reading on a third grade level (just like Dale)! We informed the teacher of the standard of excellence set by St. John and advised her that Ms. Friday prepared all kindergartners for great success. Damaris has soared in every setting!

Damaris is currently a Senior at White Knoll High School, and she has flourished academically as well as socially. We are so proud of her numerous accomplishments and we credit all to her great educational beginning. Damaris has been a ray of sunshine in her classes during her 12 years, and her teachers report that she is always eager to learn, respectful of her elders, and a great communicator. Damaris has received a number of awards during her high school years. They include the following: Principal's List, 4.9 GPA, Co-Captain Varsity Volleyball Team, President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), WACH Fox 57 Player of the Week, Senior Class Vice-President, President of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), State HOSA winner (first place) for HOSA, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Palmetto Girls State delegate, Miss Junior, Student Representative for White Knoll's Public Health and Advanced Medical Studies Center as well as serving on the Student Advisory Council for Lexington County School District One. Damaris is also a Clemson Scholar and a College of Charleston Junior Scholar.

Damaris plans to attend Clemson University and study Bio-Chemistry. She aspires to later attend medical school and become a geriatric physician. Dale, II and Damaris are active members of Brookland Baptist Church, and both serve as Junior Ushers. Dale was also active with Men's Day, Youth and Teen's Day, and won the Silver Brookland Baptist scholarship. Damaris participates in Teen Church Ministry, Leading Ladies Ministry, and Teens' Day Choir.
